My first experience with SoL Cuisine burgers wasn't the best, but now I have to say they've redeemed themselves. Continuing on the trend of making completely all-natural burgers, they developed a unique almond grain burger made of spelt, soybeans, okara, almond butter, carrots, onions, green lentils, amaranth, and almonds. These ingredients combine into a delicious nutty, hearty burger with little chunks of whole grain goodness inside.
I served mine on a whole wheat bun with Earth Balance's Mindful Mayo, lettuce, tomato, and red onions. I also added Potbelly's hot peppers (yum!) and Very Peri's Peri Peri Melange hot sauce. The only complaint I have about this burger is that it is very soft -- so soft that while you are holding the burger, it gets smashed and kind of squeezes out of the buns because it doesn't hold its shape. On the other hand, it truly feels and tastes homemade, which is a very good thing.
If you are seeking a vegetable- and grain-based burger that does not taste like meat; rather just a good hearty veggie burger, look no further. The SoL burgers can be found at grocery stores and natural food stores across the U.S. and Canada.
