GoPicnic Ready-to-Eat Meals

I'm often on the road without a lot of time to eat or to figure out what to eat. Many times I end up in remote areas in a hotel room with no refrigerator. Gasp! This requires that I get really creative with my meals. GoPicnic offers a great option that puts a bunch of snacks in one convenient box so you can have a variety of snacks on-the-go.  Each box is shelf-stable requiring no refrigeration and includes both protein and fiber.

I recently took the Sunbutter + Crackers meal out when I was stuck outside for an entire day in nowhere land.  This meal included a variety of snacks like the Crunchmaster multi-grain crackers and Sunbutter sunflower seed spread, which were my favorite. The crackers are super crunchy and the sunflower seed butter is just delicious. My only complaint is that there are not enough crackers. You end up with half a pack of sunflower seed butter and no more crackers and that makes a hungry girl sad. The other items like the Niagara Natural simply fruit pack and the Enjoy Life seed and fruit mix are good as well. There was also an Enjoy Life double chocolate cookie. I liked the Enjoy Life products, but I would have preferred that the box not include chocolate because these items melt in a hot trunk or when sitting out in the heat. I had chocolate all over my hands when I opened those packages!

The other GoPicnic box that is vegan is the Hummus & Crackers. Again this one included the Crunchmaster crackers -- this time in multi-seed. I love these crackers. They were paired with Wild Garden hummus dip, which is not my favorite. To me, it tastes like fake hummus. Something about it just isn't nearly as good as fresh hummus. There is also a Baja Blend fruit and nut mix including habanero almonds. Yum! Also included is Seapoint Farms dry roasted edamame and Endagered Species chocolate. Again, I think there should be another snack other than chocolate in these boxes.

They even include a Sudoku puzzle in each box.

All in all, I love the concept and most of the snacks are great. They are a lot healthier than a lot of other quick grab-and-go options. For example, none of the items in the boxes contain high fructose corn syrup, MSG or artificial flavors or colors. With items like dry roasted edamame and multi-grain crackers with sunflower seed butter, you'd be hard pressed to find a collection of snacks as healthy as this on-the-go. And the best part is that no refrigeration is needed. They retail for $4.99 each. To try them yourself, click here.

  1. Tahini IS sesame paste, they are one and the same thing. "tahini" is just the arabic word for sesame paste.
