After trying the Mexican style shreds and loving them, Zach and I gave the mozzarella style shreds a try. We made -- you guessed it -- pizza! We actually made a couple of pizzas! I wanted to see what the Field Roast Italian sausage would taste like paired with this cheese. The result was two delicious pizza pies with great tasting cheese and spicy sausage. This combination was a winner!
First, I'll show you how we made the first one, then I'll tell you what we changed in the second one that made it better.
Vegan Sausage and Mushroom Pizza with Galaxy Vegan Shreds
Ingredients
- 1 vegan whole wheat pizza crust
- 1/2 lb. pizza sauce
- Galaxy Nutritional Foods Vegan parmesan cheese
- 1/4 red onion, sliced or diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 4 ounces of mushrooms, sliced
- Dried pizza seasoning (oregano, basil, garlic powder, hot peppers, etc.)
- 1/2 package Galaxy Nutritional Foods Vegan shredded cheese
- 1 Field Roast Italian sausage, sliced
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 425-degrees. Put your pizza crust on a pizza pan or pizza stone. Spread pizza sauce on first, then sprinkle parmesan as desired.
Place the onions, garlic, and mushrooms on the pizza. Sprinkle with pizza seasoning.
Top with shredded cheese and sausage. Bake for 18 minutes.
As you can see, the cheese melts great. This one was pretty good, but I tried to improve on the next one. So for the second one I added green peppers and jalapeno peppers. And I also chopped the Field Roast Italian sausage instead of slicing it. I thought this one was so much better than the first! Feel free to experiment with your own toppings!
Both pizzas were delicious! I will say that the Galaxy Vegan shreds can get gooey. Zach actually likes this gooeyness while I prefer it to be a bit less gooey. But, either way, the cheese tastes great and I am really excited to have a new vegan shredded cheese on the market! Alright, back to pizza eating!
We can't even get Daiya in Australia. Not sure if we will ever see this product. :/
ReplyDeleteorder it off the internet!

ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this. I will try this recipe this weekend. I just went from vegetarian to vegan last month so I am still in the experimental stage in order to keep my kids and husband happy as well as healthy. This looks great!
ReplyDeleteGreat - let me know how it turns out!
