Hilary's Eat Well - Veggie and Adzuki Bean Burgers

While walking around the Natural Products Expo East, I discovered a new burger company -- Hilary's Eat Well. Hilary's makes allergen-free products, that is, products that are free of gluten, dairy, corn, eggs, soy, yeast, and nuts. Hilary Brown originally introduced her veggie burger at her own restaurant, Local Burger, in Lawrence, KS. It was so popular that she has started her own company to develop allergen-free food products.

These veggie burgers are completely natural. They don't contain any GMO ingredients, preservatives, artificial colors or flavorings, or toxic pesticides....and they taste great too!

First, I tried "The World's Best Veggie Burger." I cooked it on my All Clad griddle and served it on a whole wheat bun with arugula, fresh on-the-vine tomato slices, Vegenaise, and avocado. It had a light airy, toasty taste without being too "meaty."

I really don't like veggie burgers that make me wonder if I'm eating a veggie burger. It was refreshing to taste one that tasted like a fresh veggie-based burger. It is chock full of all natural ingredients such as organic whole millet, organic whole quinoa, expeller pressed coconut oil, organic sweet potato, organic spinach, organic onion, psyllium seed husk powder, arrowroot, salt, organic garlic, organic apple cider vinegar, and sunflower seed oil. Yum!

Their other burger, the Spicy Adzuki Bean Burger has a similar taste and is made with similar ingredients. This burger has some great spices in it such as cumin, chipotle powder, and chile powder, which gives it a kick. I topped this one with a hot salsa, arugula, tomato, and avocado and served it on a whole wheat bun.

While both of these burgers are vegan, they have informed me that they may come out with some non-vegan varieties in the future. For now, I'm satisfied with the burgers they are producing. It is nice to see a new company bringing high-quality, preservative-free food to the market. To see where these burgers are sold, click here. They typically retail for $3.89 for a 2-pack -- a steal!
